Die Toten (1. 98. IMDb. Edit. John Huston's last film is a labor of love at several levels: an adaptation of perhaps one of the greatest pieces of English- language literature by one of Huston's favorite authors, James Joyce; a love letter to the land of his ancestors and the country where his children grew up; and the chance to work with his screenwriter son Tony and his actress daughter Anjelica. The film is delicate and unhurried, detailing an early January dinner at the house of two spinster musician sisters and their niece in turn- of- the- century Ireland, attended by friends and family. Among the visiting attendees are the sisters' nephew Gabriel Conroy and his wife Gretta. The evening's reminiscences bring up melancholy memories for Gretta concerning her first, long- lost love when she was a girl in rural Galway. Her recounting of this tragic love to Gabriel brings him to an epiphany: he learns the difference between mere existence and living. The all- Irish cast and careful period detail give the piece richness.. Grateful Dead Live at The Centrum on 1. Free Download & Streaming : Internet Archive. And Bobby and Jerry forgot a verse to one song every other night. We saw Brent- huge fan by the way, in the bar at the Hilton after.. He was so loaded he couldn't see. Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn (1987) (aka Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn) d. Sam Raimi, 85 minutes. In its first 10 minutes, this gruesomely funny horror. Fell off his bar stool. If u think this show sucked, what ones do think are really good. Like I'm a huge fan of Santana Red Rocks but the music wasn't that great.. The sound was wacky and not on purpose but I stilllllll love it . I was at this show and there's nothing I enjoy more than being able to listen back to something I was at. So spout your hate filled negativity and I'll keep smiling, because I know I'm after a specific mindset when I listen to GD - - even when they play in 2. His stage presence and energy in many ways would never be as strong and present as it was on this tour. He loved being back and his playing, along with the band, exemplifies it magnificently. No there is no long jams this tour instead you get classic 1. Garcia powering through songs with gusto and the band hanging on for dear life. Just listen to All Over Now. Many folks have given you the details on the music but listening to this show simply transports you back to the time when we all knew we almost lost Jerry and thank goodness we did not as he was far from finishing his musical legacy. I will note that the Wharf Rat is stunning. US Blues has Jerry laying down the satire in a big way and you can feel his big ole grin the entire time. My favorite years were from '6. Luv'd pig, Donna Keith, Brent, Welnick, Hornsby, & Welnick. The rest of the guys just kept floating higher and higher up there. Thank u archive, Thank u for letting me be able to re live these beautiful moments in time. Put a show on and I'm in 7th Heaven just like the dead intended. Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile. Does if matter to any listener that a reviewer thinks the current song being reviewed doesnt stand up the the same song fom yesteryear. If this show was so important that another person . What's the point of spreading negative shit at the cost of someonelse. Most importantly, thank you for taking the time to download this show for our listening pleasure. I will match anything from the summer of 1. Alpine Valley run, up against any 3 show run, from anytime. Even Phil and Bobby said 1. Yes there were some epic shows in the 6. I personally think to say that Brent was a bad vocalist or keyboardist is just ignorant. I like rating shows like this one not in comparison to '6. It's a fair way to play. Heads that give one- star ratings to anything beyond, say, '7. I think it's more than fair to look at each show on its own terms - in a vacuum, removed from as much context as possible. So, yeah! The '8. First set is lighting in a bottle. Let It Grow, I mean, hello!?!? And check the way Samson enters and exits - following so perfectly on the heels of Crazy Fingers and into Drums.. Post- drums is one of those setlists that you could predict and write out, but no matter - it's very well- played. I enjoy when they cut NFA to a standstill instead of letting it drift.. That's my thinking anyway. Ignore the ignorance of others here. We were glad you were on tour for the extra cash you brought with you. Agree with comment below, the dead evolved year after year. Who I am to say someone doesn't know what they are talking about because they didn't see shows during my time frame. Anyone who loved the music like we did back then and even today is a head. Not because we appoint. Yes 4. 76 Donna Reviewer: grendelschoice - . December 1. 3, 2. Subject. You're both wrong. I normally hate wading into internet pissing matches like the one between . Garcia himself said that he didn't regain his chops post- coma for several years and that he basically had to re- teach himself how to play. The early 7. 0's era, when he was a young, vibrant, healthy man at the height of his powers and could take his jamming in a million different directions and wasn't zoned out on heroin as he was in the later years reveals itself in so many legendary versions of Dark Star, Other One, Bird song, and other vehicles that it's absurd to claim he was . Go listen to PITB from Ventura 8/2. NEAR that good in that song post- '8. A lot of portions of those versions of The Other One you love so much in the early 7. So both of you need to realize you're not speaking for all Heads of ANY generation when you spout such non- toleant nonsense on these reviews. Shows like this one have their moments of pure joy, while they never can in fact reach the overall heights of their counterparts from 1. This show is a solid 3 stars, by the way. It'll never replace a June Winterland '7. Enjoy it for what it is, and ignore the frothing at the mouth from the rest. I'm a new wave, in the dark, Dead fan, aka idiot. The fascist boundaries which got set up by cultish, judgmental heads like you CREATED the collapse in the social environment around the Grateful Dead in the '9. There is so much evidence for this that I could write a book of 1. By itself, the fact that you have no ear for music at all should show that whatever the act of going to a Dead concert was for you, it was NOT for the music. To demonstrate this, I cite your comment comparing Garcia's skill with the guitar in the '7. While he was very capable in both eras, anyone who knows anything technically about musical skill (and knowing requires LISTENING) will tell you that Garcia was VASTLY better on guitar post- '8. Subjective preferences about the length of the shows and other qualities are maybe another matter, but since your perceptions are already in question.. The worst thing that ever happened to the Grateful Dead as a musical experience was the objectification of a surrounding . Listening to music is not a community. It is a collective activity. You shouldn't have to be any kind of person to be able to listen to tunes. Collective activities are open and inclusive and judge no one. Communities are conservative, reactionary and fascist, like your comments. Seriously, go read some books about people who used to talk like you in Germany in the 1. And now the show: Only heard the first set so far, but it's actually a scorcher, and I like this recording best out of all the others currently available, by a pretty narrow margin. But listen for yourself and don't try to be a Deadhead. It's a shame about them. So mellow, yet so weirdly uptight. It was possible to go see a show without letting them ruin the experience, but not easy. PS: yeah, the second set rocks also. More about the recording: very clear and tone- rich. On headphones it sounds like you're there. Garcia did absolutely nothing and the band kept trying to make it sound like they were doing things on stage. The Other One in this show sounds down right stupid. Also after '8. 6 the crowds became a real big problem, all the new- wave fans from the in the dark era who had no clue what the Dead was about were real idiots. I love the way they covered this song. And after so many years of evolution this version has the turbo chargers on full speed. This is a good side of the 8. The only thing I have found close to the Dead since is now represented on the Archive: http: //archive. The. Ballad. Of. Orson. Wells Reviewer: turok. October 1. 4, 2. 01. Subject. This is the best recording I've found of this show. I wish the taper's name was included so I could find other shows he's taped. Really top class, the gain is super high but never peaks. But straight to the point, i was wondering if i was to download the entire Mp. I noticed they say mp. Thank you for any help you can provide. I normally click the last of the 4 options, the link that says VBR ZIP for the format and is 1. MB in this case. This will download the songs onto your computer, and from there you'll want to add them to itunes. You can either open itunes and go to file, add music to library, and then go to the shows folder and add each song, or if itunes is set as your default player you can just open that folder and double click each song and it will open up in itunes and begin playing. Hope this helps buddy, I've been a dead head for years but i'm still fairly new to this site as well, so i understand the confusion. For your first download you've certainly chosen a great show! Bilvis - . favoritefavoritefavoritefavorite - . February 1. 9, 2. Subject. Fine, but Maybe not Even the Best of Worcester 8. No doubt this is a terrific show, with inspired, energetic, tight playing all the way through; . But this whole tour is excellent, and I'm not even sure this is the best of the three nights in Worcester '8. Check out the night before this and the night after in Worcester. The following night is the last . They are mostly Auds but good ones. So far the best all- around show of the late 8. I've found. That sense of carefree abandon, the Boys providing the space, time, and creative musical tapestries for a night of serious fun. Strangers became friends, rhythm became dance, music became mantra, and thought gave way to surrender, clarity, and understanding. Sure, we all went at times to just lose it, or just to dance, but I would guess most Dead. Heads can say they had more than a few of those enlightening moments. Sugaree got everyone groovin' if you weren't already, the place did go nuts.
